Anastasios Tellios was born in Berlin, Germany. He studied Architecture at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, where he graduated (Dip. Arch. AUTh), at TU Delft, the Netherlands, at University of Kaiserslautern, Germany and at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, London, (M.Arch, Distinction). He received his PhD at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (Dr. Architect). His doctorate research was focused in issues concerning architecture, theory and criticism, image and representation. His academic interests are related to architecture and urban design, and the respective hermeneutic theories. His recent focus is placed on advanced architectural design and design research.
Since 2008 he is teaching at School of Architecture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is Associate Professor of ‘Architectural Design: Theory and Practice’. He is the Director of the B’ Department of Architecture and Urban Design (2019-2020), Director of the Postgraduate Program ‘Advanced Design: Innovation and Transdisciplinarity in Design’ (2019-2021) and he is also Director of the Research Unit ‘INNEN Innovative Environments’, at School of Architecture, AUTH.
He is an active architect located in Thessaloniki, Greece. In 2010, together with Despoina Zavraka, he co-founded ‘TTDZ Architects’, a professional practice researching and working on issues covering a wide range of contemporary creative fields, such as architecture, urban design and landscape.
He is participating in projects, funded research programs and international initiatives in the areas of architectural and urban design. He is currently the AUTH Coordinator in two European research projects, within the Horizon2020 framework, ‘V4Design’ and ‘MindSpaces’. He is lecturing in Greece and internationally. His work, both theoretical and practical, as an architect and educator, has been published and exhibited in Greece and abroad.
He has participated in numerous conferences and workshops in Greece and internationally and in research and funded programs concerning architecture, urban design and architectural education. He has edited publications and monographs, including ‘Synecdoches: architecture, image, spatial representation’ (Epikentro, Thessaloniki, 2011) and ‘Agile Design, advanced architectural cultures’ (CND publications, Thessaloniki, 2014). He has many publications in scientific journals, collective volumes, periodicals and conference proceedings.
