  • Summary session altogether (Goals of teaching structures from a wide range of perspectives, such as students, employers, clients, civil engineers, accreditation boards, professional registration and realism of students’ own projects)

  • Lectures (ppt presentations), exercises, physical models, precedents (that will also up skill teachers), student presentations, site visits, visits to existing buildings?
  • Integrating Structures with studio assignments
  • Teaching tools – RESIST, any other?
  • Resources – “Seismic design for architects”, “Structure as architecture”, readings from books etc, Youtube videos, other?
  • What knowledge to deliver and what can students be directed to find themselves?

How to improve structural knowledge of non-engineer teachers/tutors? Architects or structural engineers? Invited practitioners for guest lectures? Volunteer or paid structural (consulting) engineers for tutorials?

Assessement and research

  • Students’ to help your research: design exercises, literature study, fieldwork, internet searching, other?
